Ken, I heard you say on Fresh Air that your dog, Brando, is your "soul mate," and that you hestitate to say that because you are afraid people might think you're weird. I don't think so. My girlfriend, Christine, felt the same way about her cat, Black Baby. She had this cat a couple of years before I met her, and she lost the cat after it suffered through a prolonged illness. Christine says that the depth of the grief she experienced afterwards was incredibibly intense--it was as though she lost a close family member; for her it was like losing a husband.

I really enjoyed the interview.

i do all photgraphy for petfinders for my local shelter that I put in 40+ hours a week at. my life partner and i both work at our local shelter and have both read your book, he has finished and I'm on my way to the end. i picked it up one day at borders on a rainy saturday afternoon. what a great book and thanks for letting people know what we try and teach everyday. your insight was refreshing and thank god you're still around to help those animals that find there way to you! Thanks! From all the furry friends you've saved! and the ones that are on there way to you!

Oh my god! I was given your book today as a gift from one of my fellow volunteers at a small Sydney (Australia) based dog rescue organisation (www.doggierescue.com).
I have read 5 pages aloud in the kitchen and just have to email straight away to say how delightful, honest and inspiring I find your words, and your work! Julie H, Sydney

Everyone needs a Brando in there life.

I just loved your book "the dogs who found me" and of course I have loved all of my dogs who have found me as well.

My next read is "dogs I have met"

I thoroughly enjoyed your book. I had to laugh about Brando's size. His puppy paws don't look all that large. I work with a nonprofit foster/shelter and we guess about the pups future full grown size all the time.

Thanks for writing the book.

i just finished reading your book for the 2nd time and i absolutely adore it! i have always wondered what the very famous brando and zephyr looks like. i am actually very young. in the 6th grade. your book is amazing. i have 2 rescue dogs. on a shepard mix named sydney and the ather a collie named sheena who we also got from petfinder.com. i think that what that website does is WONDERFUL! i still have to read the dogs i have met. it will probably be even beter than the dogs who found me which truly was a heart felt, and touching story that is bound to become a classic

I just wanted to Thank you for all what you are doing and will, for all our loved ones, so called 'pets'.
For my part, I have a king charles spaniel of 4 (+ a cat + 2 birds...), I just adore him. Sensitive, reactive, happy, spoiled, respected... sometimes, he does laugh (in his own way..) but he does !:)
Take care !
PS. I just ordered your book 'the dogs who found me'.
