Sula and I ... on video; and the Dogs Who Found Me, now on audio

The unabridged audio version of The Dogs Who Found Me is now available through Blackstone Audiobooks. You can also purchase it through any bookstore, including Amazon and Powells.com. (The paperback version is available everywhere as well!)

Me & Sula on YouTube

Here's a little clip of me and Sula talking about the book and Zephyr's diagnosis of my heart problem. The video was shot this summer, just down the street from our house. We were both a little hot and sweaty by the time we got there.

Hi, I first want to say that I loved your book. I just read it on a trip to Arizona and read it in 1 1/2 days. I love dogs and will always have one.
On another note I have to say that I am disappointed with your stereotyping of football players. I believe it was on page 88 and you stated that they were bulked up steroid using wanna be football players. My husband is a football coach and these players are hard working regimented athletes. They have high protein diets and a strict weight room workout. They are dedicated and besides their sport that they play, they go to school. These boys are athletes. Yes, there are some who give all the athletes out there a bad name but to judge without really knowing is stereotyping. Just like those who stereotype that a pit bull is bad because of the mauling story they heard on the news or read in the paper.

I believe I was talking about a particular group of football players, not all football players, so no stereotype was intended.

Just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the book. If found it yesterday at the bookstore. I am both a dog person and Baptist pastor. I had gone to the store to sit and do some initial work on my sermon for next Sunday. I was taking a break and browsing in the store when I found your book. It looked interesting, so I took it back to my seat to look at it. Immediately, I was hooked by your observation that people simply don't see all the dogs you see because they'd have to do something about the dog. The passage of scripture I'm looking at this week is the story of the Good Samaritan. It seems to me the story is about seeing/not seeing those in need around us, because seeing means acting. And that insight opens up a broad range of issues that I think will be fruitful to explore. Thanks for your insight.

I read The Dogs Who Found Me on Sunday. It's wonderful. My elderly cat had died and I thought dog stories would cheer me up. I have five dogs. Your book is a treasure. Thank you.

Your friend D.K. Brainard sent me to your site, and I'm grateful. What a cool story! It reminds me of Planet of the Blind, by Stephen Kuusisto, which, if you haven't, you ought to read! (He is also an incredibly nice person.)

Congratulations and good luck. I hope your book is a success.
